TANYA McDonald proved that romance is alive and well by telling how she never gave up hope of finding love with the older boy she fancied while she was still at primary school.
But it wasn’t until more than ten years later that a chance meeting led to love blossoming between Tanya and the boy she was smitten by at only nine years of age.
Tanya has won our competition to find the most romantic story for Valentine’s Day. After telling her romantic tale she lifted the prize of a £100 Braehead gift card, bouquet, bottle of champagne and luxury chocolates.
Tanya used to write Andy Monaghan’s name on the cover of her school jotters with phrases like ‘Tanya Loves Andy’ and ‘Mrs Tanya Monaghan’ when she was growing up in the West Coast village of Tayinloan, on the Mull of Kintyre.
And when Andy came to visit Tanya, her mother went up to the loft and brought out the jotters to show Andy what Tanya wrote about him on the covers.
The couple who now stay in Maryhill, Glasgow have been living together for 12 years and are engaged.
